-- EARLY EDUCATION

The Early Education program focuses on the core subjects that are the most crucial for young students to master: arithmetic, phonics and handwriting. It is an excellent supplement for students enrolled in a developmentally focused pre-school or for students who will be applying to attend the more competitive kindergarten and elementary schools in the greater Los Angeles area. Your young student will be engaged with a variety of activities, songs and manipulatives and will develop a true enthusiasm and excitement for learning.

Your Early Education specialist will customize each session to introduce a variety of new skills and concepts, as well as to continue to develop the areas in which your young student is already showing promise.

Our pre-K students will focus on the following skills and concepts: Letter and number recognition Color and shape recognition Phonemic awareness Introduction to site words Counting and one-to-one correspondence Grouping and categorization Greater than and less than Fine motor skill development Introduction to handwriting: imitation and copying

Our Kindergarten students will learn these additional skills and concepts: Vowel and consonant sounds Consonant blends More site words Differentiating between letters, words and sentences Reading comprehension Independent writing Addition and subtraction Least to greatest

Please keep in mind that the division of skills and concepts above is approximately based on the student's age, but is in no way a strict guideline. Some students will be more advanced in some areas and need more improvement in others. Because each session is customized to meet the needs of your student, the pre-K skills will often overlap with those from the Kindergarten program.
